GreenBDG Africa is a technology-powered sustainability partner, founded in South Africa and working across Africa. Not another European SaaS adapted for Africa: built from the ground up for SA's grid, certification systems and legal environment.

Why we exist

Every building is either a liability or a legacy.

South African commercial property faces live EPC enforcement, Carbon Tax Phase 2 and mandatory ESG disclosure, while fewer than one in ten affected buildings holds a valid certificate. Most portfolios experience that as a compliance cost. We built GreenBDG to turn it into a portfolio advantage.

The offer runs consulting plus platform: certification gets you compliant, monitoring keeps you honest, and one verified dataset feeds every framework you report against while recovering Section 12L tax along the way. Our brand takes its inspiration from the Protea, a flower that flourishes in harsh conditions.

We are B-BBEE Level 1 and 100% female-led, which means procurement scorecard points for our clients simply by working with us. Client data is POPIA-compliant and hosted in Johannesburg.

Songo Didiza

Co-Founder and Group CEO

Certified energy and ESG specialist with more than 16 years in the sustainable built environment across South and Sub-Saharan Africa. A Wits economics graduate with a postgraduate diploma in Sustainable Development and Renewable Energy from Stellenbosch University, Songo was named Sub-Saharan Africa Energy Innovator of the Year by the Association of Energy Engineers in 2019, has advised on green economy transactions exceeding USD 1 billion, and spoke at the Milken Institute Middle East and Africa Summit 2025 in Abu Dhabi.

Ridhwaan Mayet

Chief Technology Officer

Owns the engineering behind GreenBDG's platform: the data backbone that captures live meter telemetry in Postgres and turns it into the single verified dataset every ESG framework reports against. Brings more than 16 years across energy data pipelines, backends and web, on a numerate Actuarial Science foundation from Wits.

Drives GreenBDG expansion across East and West Africa, specialising in cross-border ESG compliance and green finance.
