Green Building Design Group was tasked to perform a Level 1 ASHRAE Energy Audit at a automotive manufacturing plant in Silverton, Pretoria. Ford’s Silverton Assembly Plant in Pretoria produces the Ranger pickup for domestic sales and exports to over 100 global markets.

A Level 1 ASHRAE* energy efficiency analysis was focused on the following areas: Lighting, HVAC, Water, Compressed Air and Water Heating. This work was carried out in preparation for a 13,5 MW Solar plant facility which was launched in 2022.

Additionally, a sectional analysis of the plant processes was carried out on the information and data that was sent to the lead team by the Ford Motor Company site team. The team also performed energy baselines for the manufacturing plant in preparation for the solar plant.

*Walk-Through Analysis - A Level 1 energy audit is a high level and least expensive type of energy audit. It involves a walk-through of the client's building by an energy auditor who will inspect the building envelope, lighting, HVAC, water heating, and other major energy systems.
